The Balaklava Racing Club is seeking a motivated Apprentice Track Horticulturalist/Turf Management to join our dedicated team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Apprentice Track Horticulturalist, you will:

  • Assist with the maintenance, preparation, and development of the racing track and surrounding grounds.
  • Learn and apply turf management techniques to deliver a premium racing surface.
  • Operate and maintain horticultural equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems.
  • Contribute to the care and presentation of gardens, lawns, and other areas within the club grounds.
  • Work collaboratively with the track team to ensure the safe and smooth running of race days and other events.

This role is ideal for:

  • School leavers eager to kickstart a career in horticulture or turf management.
  • Adults or experienced individuals looking for a career change or further skill development in horticulture.
  • Those with a genuine interest in plants, turf, and outdoor work.

We value enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn. Prior experience or qualifications in horticulture, landscaping, or a similar field are a bonus but not essential.

Requirements

  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends (occasional) and race days as required.
  • A driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
