About the Role:
As an Assistant Supervisor, you’ll provide critical support to the Operations Supervisor while leading a diverse team of employees and contractors. This role involves overseeing grain storage and handling, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and contributing to the smooth operation of the Port Giles terminal.

 

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Supervise, guide, and lead a team of employees and contractors, supporting the Operations Supervisor.
  • Assist with grain storage and handling, out loading activities, and ship loading.
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of grain stored at the Port Giles terminal meets Viterra’s high standards.
  • Administer safety, food safety, and quality documentation to maintain compliance.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of operational strategies to meet safety, quality, and efficiency targets.
  • Support the recruitment, selection, and induction of terminal staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Represent Viterra positively to internal and external stakeholders, building strong community and business relationships.

 

Who We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for a motivated, hands-on leader with the drive to contribute to operational success. You’ll be a proactive and adaptable individual, capable of managing people and processes in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within an operational environment (preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a focus on motivation and performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A positive, “can-do” attitude and the ability to embrace new challenges.
  • Willingness to undertake professional development and training.
  • Previous experience in grain handling operations and Bunker management (preferred).
