Summary of position:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Enrolled Nurse to join our team on a temporary basis, covering a maternity leave position from 1 Oct 2024 to 30 Sep 2025. Reporting to the Care Manager, you will undertake a variety of important nursing duties focused on wound care.

About the role:

Accountable to the Clinical Nurse and supervised by the Registered Nurse, ultimately responsible for the nursing and personal care of the house members providing a variety of nursing duties focused on wound care.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • The Enrolled Nurse needs to work under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Provide the highest level of quality care to consumers in accordance with the policies and procedures of Barunga Village by:
  • Directing care provided by personal care staff to consumers.
  • Within scope giving direct nursing care to consumers with particular emphasis on those persons with complex and/or changing health care needs.
  • Ensuring that the care process and outcomes are accurately documented in accordance with procedures.
  • Maintaining a physical and psychosocial environment that promotes safety, security and optimal health.
  • Maintaining a physical and psychosocial environment that ensures the privacy, dignity, individuality and rights of consumers.
  • Assisting consumers to make informed health care decisions and demonstrating responsibility for care practice.
  • Within scope work with other staff to identify the nursing needs of consumers and to formulate care plans in consultation with consumers/representatives which are subject to ongoing assessment and evaluation and recognise the roles of other members on the health care team.

About you:

  • Diploma of Nursing
  • Current registration with the Nurses Board of South Australia.
  • Sound knowledge of the principles of caring for the elderly.
  • Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality and Safety standards.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the legal implications of actions taken in aged care.
  • Demonstrate competency in the delivery of support to individuals and a knowledge base for safe practice.
  • Possess sound interpersonal skills and written / verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks to best meet the needs of the house members and Barunga Village.
  • Ability to empathise with house members, relatives and staff in a caring manner.
