The Balaklava Racing Club is seeking a motivated Groundsperson for an IMMEDIATE START to join our dedicated team.

About Us

The Balaklava Racing Club is one of South Australia’s leading provincial racing clubs, known for its first-class racing surfaces and picturesque grounds. Our mission is to uphold the highest standards for the thoroughbred racing industry, ensuring a safe, beautiful, and premium track for all participants.

The Groundsperson supports the Track Manager, duties vary as follows:

• Assist with the maintenance, preparation, and development of the racing track and surrounding grounds.
• Operate and maintain horticultural equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems.
• Contribute to the care and presentation of gardens, lawns, and other areas within the club grounds.
• Work collaboratively with the track team to ensure the safe and smooth running of race days and other events.
• Assist with setup & preparation for race days and pre-race day requirements.
• Race day procedures and experience is an advantage but not essential.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Experienced individuals looking for a career change or further skill development in horticulture.
• Those with a genuine interest in plants, turf, and outdoor work.
• We value enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn. Prior experience or qualifications in horticulture, landscaping, or a similar field are a bonus but not essential.
• The chance to work in one of South Australia’s most iconic racing venues.

Requirements

• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends (occasional) and race days as required.
• A driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
