Are you passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and their families? Join our team and play a key role in supporting the health of Aboriginal males across the mid-north region. As a Male Aboriginal Health Worker, you will be at the forefront of health promotion, working directly with fathers, their children, and young people, ensuring they access vital health services and receive the care they need.
This important role involves assisting with health checks, developing and evaluating community-focused health programs, and acting as a cultural liaison between Aboriginal clients and health services. By supporting the unique needs of Aboriginal men and families, you’ll be helping to build stronger, healthier communities.
We are looking for someone who is not only committed to Aboriginal health but is also motivated to continue learning and growing in their field. If you have experience working with Aboriginal men, are willing to further your qualifications, and have the dedication to make a lasting impact, we want to hear from you!
Essential Criteria
- Willingness to undertake studies in Cert IV in Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice.
- Experience in effectively working with Aboriginal men and young people.
- Ability to accurately and appropriately use Microsoft Office products and data entry programs.
For OPS3 classification applicants Cert IV in Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice and willingness to undertake registration with AHPRA as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner is also required.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements:
- DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- DHS National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check
- National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
- Immunisation Risk for this position is – Category A
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
