About the Role
As a Meat Inspector at Seven Point Pork, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of all pork products produced at our Port Wakefield facility. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect pork carcasses and products at various stages of processing to ensure they meet Australian food safety regulations and the company’s high-quality standards. You will work closely with our production team to maintain a safe and hygienic processing environment, ensuring that the highest standards of meat inspection are consistently met.
This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify potential issues early in the production process. The position operates during the morning shift, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts required based on production needs.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Meat Inspection: Inspect pork carcasses and cuts throughout the slaughter and processing stages to ensure they meet Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Safety: Monitor production practices to ensure food safety standards and hygiene protocols are strictly adhered to.
Reporting: Document findings from inspections, including any non-compliance or defects and report them to management for further action.
Quality Control: Work closely with the quality assurance team to identify areas for improvement in production processes to maintain product integrity and quality.
Equipment and Facility Inspections: Ensure that all tools and equipment used during processing are in good working condition and compliant with safety standards.
Collaboration: Communicate effectively with Production Staff, Supervisors, Management and the on the Plant Vet to ensure efficient operations and maintain a safe working environment.
Training & Development: Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to meat inspection and food safety.
About You
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
· A current Driver’s licence and reliable car.
· Qualifications: Relevant certifications in meat inspection or food safety, Certificate 4 in Meat Safety Inspection which includes Police Clearance.
· Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the same of similar qualified role.
· Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, especially in identifying defects or non-compliance in meat products.
· Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and inspecting heavy carcasses.
· Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to report findings and communicate with various teams.
· Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with Australian meat safety regulations, HACCP, and other quality assurance programs.
· Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining individual responsibility for inspections
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday: Morning shift (typically 6:48am to 3:24pm)
- Saturday: As required (overtime or occasional weekend work may be requested)
