Gilmac, Australia’s top hay exporter, handles a quarter of the country’s hay exports across three states, with major markets in Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan.

As a Plant Operator, you will be instrumental in the hands-on operation and maintenance of our hay processing plant. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Running and maintaining the plant, ensuring optimal safety, quality, and performance.
  • Setting up, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining both fixed and mobile plant equipment.
  • Producing high-quality hay that meets our customers’ needs and Gilmac’s safety, cost, and production targets.
  • Maintaining the plant in optimal conditions and safely processing and packaging hay to export quality standards.

We provide comprehensive training in quality, safety, and hay processing operations to all our operators.

We are looking for applicants who:

  • Are committed to safety, quality, and preventative maintenance.
  • Can legally work in Australia on a permanent basis.
  • Are willing to work both day and night rotating 12-hour shifts for up to 5 consecutive days.
  • Can pass a pre-employment medical, including a drug screen, and handle the physical demands of a hay environment.

Favourable consideration will be given to candidates with:

  • Strong literacy skills.
  • Experience in fields such as agriculture or plant operation, whether fixed or mobile.

For this vacancy we are also looking for applicants who currently hold tickets, or who are willing to undertake training for forklift, telehandler and gantry. Initially this will be a key part of the role.
