Overview

The Women’s and Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia.

We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. We also provides important community-based services, of which the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and Child, Family Health Service (CaFHS)  and  Disability Services are an integral part.

Our Access Assistant Program in Disability Services , part of Allied Health, Spiritual Care, Complex & Sub Acute Care directorate provides services for students with complex health care needs and / or physical disabilities while they are at school.

About the Role

We currently have multiple exciting opportunities to join the Disability and Complex Care team as Registered Nurse, Level 1 on Casual capacity.

As a Registered Nurse Level 1, you will:

  • provide direct nursing care and support to pre-school and school aged children in community educational settings with complex health and disability needs
  • work 1:1 in education settings, such as pre-school, mainstream schools and special education schools
  • work in collaboration with other health professionals
  • consolidate knowledge and skills and develops in capability through continuous professional development and experience

About You

We are  seeking a registered (or eligible for registration) nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and holds, (or who is eligible to hold), a current practicing certificate; who has had experience in working with clients with complex and/or invasive health care including tracheostomies, oxygen therapy and ventilation.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing quality service to consumers/clients
