Senior Process Engineer

 

Adchem (Australia) Pty Ltd is a long-established, privately owned manufacturer of inorganic chemicals for Industrial and Agricultural markets worldwide. It is based in Burra in the mid-north of South Australia, approximately 160 km north of Adelaide.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, your role will include providing process and technical support across the facility. The core responsibility of this key role will include,

  • Design plant process flow diagrams,  piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and plant equipment using analysis and computer-aided design packages (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions for equipment failures or emerging problems.
  • Analyse the test results and change the design or system as needed.
  • Prepare product data reports and other documentation for plant pipework and equipment.
  • Liaise with third-party consultants and contractors as required.
  • Provide management assistance with plant operations activities when required.
  • Work with the projects management team to develop new plant designs and maintain ongoing project work.
  • Work with the Production team to develop plant efficiency improvement and capacity optimisation while ensuring environmental compliance.
  • Coordinating the maintenance and repairs of production equipment, including planned shutdown works.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a healthy and safe workplace and the prevention or minimisation of any environmental harm.
  • Ensure production and maintenance activities comply with relevant work health and safety regulations, legislation, practice codes, and Australian standards.
  • Ensure production activities comply with the Environmental Management Plan and other Environmental Improvement Programs.
  • Act in the role of the shift manager as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Accordingly, for this important role, we are targeting a chemical engineer with aligned plant experience and an individual who has remained abreast of the latest trends in process operational strategies and technology.

The role and environment will require an individual who can “think on his/her feet” and is a consummate, passionate engineer who displays a logical, focused, pragmatic approach. An opportunity exists for a high-calibre individual to potentially broaden his/her remit into a Production Management capacity, dependent on your success.

This is a salaried position. The successful applicant will receive an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the role, and additional capabilities, skills, and experience will be recognised where appropriate.
