Overview of the role

 

Are you passionate about workplace safety and looking for a challenging role where you can make a difference? Join our team at Nyrstar Port Pirie as a Senior Safety Business Partner. We are seeking a dedicated individual to implement and improve our Safety Management System, promote a strong safety culture, and achieve world-class safety outcomes.

 

This role is residentially based in Port Pirie, South Australia, operating on a Monday-Friday roster. Ideally the successful candidate will already be residentially based or willing to relocate to Port Pirie. Relocation assistance will be provided if required.

 

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site safety and business continuity manuals in compliance with regulations
  • Develop safety and business continuity KPIs and implement an audit process for continual improvement
  • Proactively manage safety and business continuity by implementing required procedures and policies
  • Maintain safety and business continuity policies/procedures in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Foster stakeholder consultation and facilitate communication across the site
  • Provide technical advice on safety and business continuity matters
  • Coach site leaders in the implementation and management of safety systems
  • Ensure all employees receive adequate training in safe work practices and emergency procedures
  • Support departments in hazard identification and risk assessment processes
  • Conduct audits and reporting on KPIs, objectives and projects associated with safety and business continuity
  • Facilitate investigations in response to incidents and near misses
  • Provide safety support for fire, rescue and emergencies onsite

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences:

 

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field (Desirable)
    Certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related field (Required)
  • Over 5 years of demonstrated safety experience in a similar role
  • Sound knowledge of South Australian WHS legislation, codes of practice, and relevant Australian Standards
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Knowledge of RIMS and SAP advantageous)
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer-focused skills
  • Strong time management and priority-setting abilities
