About Us

Seven Point Australian Pork (part of JBS Australia) is the largest protein processing facility located in Port Wakefield, South Australia (postcode 5550), just 24 km from Balaklava and 60 km from Kadina. We are currently recruiting Maintenance Trade Assistant. Full-time skilled and unskilled opportunity available for the right applicant, including apprenticeship.

Positions are available Monday to Friday, on early morning or afternoon shifts, with a minimum of 38 hours per week, plus reasonable overtime. Weekend and public holiday work is optional when offered.

Main Duties

•   Assist fitters and maintenance tradespeople during breakdown repairs, inspection, servicing, and installations.
• Handle and prepare tools, materials, and equipment needed for mechanical repairs.
• Assist with dismantling machinery, removing and replacing components, and reassembling equipment.
• Help carry out lubrication, cleaning, and minor servicing of plant machinery.
• Report identified issues, wear, or damage to the maintenance team.
• Keep the maintenance workshop areas clean, organised, and safe.
• Perform general labouring duties such as carrying parts, lifting equipment, and basic fabrication tasks, such as cutting or drilling.

The best candidate for the T/A position needs to have an open mind to perform a variety of activities, going from fixing a broken toilet seat in the restroom and sweeping the workshop floor to assisting a fitter during a breakdown repair inside the plant. The candidate also needs to have a big desire to learn and develop themselves, with great commitment to punctuality and attendance.

A T/A has a lot of things to learn from our senior’s team leaders, most of them have 20+ years in the industry and at the end of his first year we, if this is something that the company can provide, can evaluate his performance and work culture to provide the right candidate an apprenticeship.

Ordinary Shifts: 5:00 AM – 13:36 PM or 2:00 PM – 22:36 PM, subject to availability. Two 30-minute breaks are included.

About You

A highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates:

• Responsibility and ownership of decisions
• The ability to keep up with production
• Positivity, a good attitude, and clear communication
• A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (no public transport is available)
• The ability to attend and pass a medical assessment, including functional and drug & alcohol screening
• Strong attendance and a willingness to work 38 hours per week, plus reasonable overtime
