About the role 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced Front of House Supervisor to assist in leading our team and exciting our guests with exceptional dining and functions experiences.

Currently operating 4 lunch services per week, as well as other functions, weddings and dinner services, SLATE Restaurant provides the opportunity for a great work/life balance in a stunning winery location.

You will play a key role in assisting with all restaurant activities, including service, function and events, stock management, POS systems and the general operational requirements of the restaurant.

You will assist in the supervision and training of the FOH team, working alongside them to provide superior service and a memorable experience for our diners.

We expect you to lead by example, motivate the team to achieve great results, have a strong passion for food and wine, strong people skills and proven experience in a similar role.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Working on the restaurant floor, undertaking day to day operations
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, hygienic Restaurant area
  • Managing the restaurant bookings (inc. group bookings) and POS system
  • Playing a key role in IT systems / issues as required
  • Having a detailed knowledge of and maintaining the beverage list.
  • Updating printed menus as required with new menu and beverage items
  • Support Restaurant Manager in booking and execution of Functions / Weddings
  • Oversee the rostering of staff giving consideration to cost management

Skills and experience   

  • Demonstrated experience in Hospitality in a similar supervisory role
  • A calm and professional personality with a committed and passionate attitude to work
  • Experience in larger format offerings would be an advantage [weddings, events and functions]
  • A formal qualification in Hospitality highly desirable, not essential

You will possess good communication skills and become a key member of the business, working closely with the Kitchen, Tasting Room & Brewery teams.

We may ask you to come in and demonstrate your skills during a trial in our Restaurant.
