The District Council of Mount Remarkable is home to some of the world’s most diverse geographical land with a unique natural coastline as one boundary, and the other being some of the world’s most productive agricultural land. Central to the location is the Remarkable Southern Flinders, a distinctive, growth tourism destination.
The area of the District Council of Mount Remarkable is located in the Southern Flinders Ranges of South Australia, approximately 250 kilometres from Adelaide. The Council district is 3,413 sq. kilometres in area with a population of approximately 2,900. The major townships within the area are Booleroo Centre, Melrose, Port Germein, Weeroona Island, Wilmington and Wirrabara. Agriculture and mixed farming are the predominant industries of the District.

Due to the pending retirement of some valued team members, a great opportunity has arisen to join the Depot Team.
You will perform a wide range of duties to ensure Council’s assets and roads are maintained and safe to the public. Work locations across the council district will vary, as will the duties according to need and the works programs. Key responsibilities will include:
- Effective and safe operation of Council’s plant, machinery and CWMS assets
- Maintenance and construction of roads, footpaths and drainage
- Servicing Council’s parks & gardens, cemeteries, community amenities and assets
- Operation of bitumen tar spray pump, patching or spreader as needed
- Ad hoc functions and any other duties as directed.
In addition to an energetic “can do” attitude the ideal applicant will ideally have some relevant work experience and preferably have one or more of the following licences – Grader Operating, Skid Steer, Load Shifting Equipment Assessment and/or HC.
The ability to operate specialised machinery, tools, plant and equipment, along with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality, stringent work health and safety practices, and abiding by Council’s Code of Conduct will be important.
A Local Government background is ideal, however demonstrable relevant experience from other sectors will also be suitable.
