About the role:

This role is to provide direct support to clients of Barunga Community Care in their own homes or as stipulated in their support plans, such as personal care, housekeeping, shopping and social support. May provide respite to the primary caregiver.

 

This is a Permanent Part-time role with 60 hours per fortnight. Areas covered but not limited to Clare, Burra, Hallett, Booborowie, Yacka, Snowtown, Dublin, Hamley Bridge, Balaklava and Port Wakefield.

 

Who you’ll be working with:

Reports to Community Team Leader

Key Stakeholders: Clients, representatives and families, Client Liaison Officers, Community Administrative staff.

 

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Follow clients support plan at all times.
  • Provide active companionship and emotional support with clients in their own home.
  • Complete the housekeeping as agreed in the clients’ homes.
  • Administer medications only as specified in the care plan.
  • Promote and foster the independence of the client.
  • Provide transport to different appointments, such as doctor, shopping, so on.
  • Complete paperwork or upload changes to the system.
  • Advise the Client Liaison Officer if support other than that described in the support plan appears necessary.
  • Report to the Client Liaison Officer any changes observed in the client, the homes safety or other relevant aspects of the home environment.

About you:

Should hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or related, or willingness to start it within 6 months. Barunga Village is able to support you in gaining this qualification

Have and keep a current First Aid certification.

 

You need to:

  • Provide an NDIS worker screening clearance that is dated not more than five years old.
  • Comply with having annual flu vaccination and being fully immunised against COVID-19.
  • Not be included in the Aged Care Banning Orders Register.
  • Willingness to travel to clients’ homes up to 100 km from your base location.

Special conditions:

Flexible time available depends on appointments.

You must possess a driver’s license, and a reliable motor vehicle (safety-approved yearly by a licensed mechanic).

Have a personal smartphone to use within work duties.
