The South Australian Government is improving access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in the community by making them mandatory in certain buildings, facilities and vehicles.
Preventive Health SA is providing grants of $1,000 to assist eligible not-for-profit community and sporting organisations with the cost of purchasing AEDs and meeting the requirements of the Automated External Defibrillators (Public Access) Act 2022 (the Act).
All not-for-profit community or sporting organisations are encouraged to check their eligibility and apply.
Funding is available for community and sporting organisations.
To be eligible, applying organisations must:
- be located in South Australia
- be a not-for-profit club, association or organisation that is sport or community related
- have an active Australian Business Number (ABN)
- have public liability insurance with a minimum of $1 million per claim (proof of eligibility will be required by uploading a Certificate of Currency)
- not have received prior funding from the South Australian AED Grants Program for the buildings/facilities included in the application
- apply for buildings/facilities that do not currently have an AED.
Grants cannot be provided to:
- individuals, government organisations or for-profit businesses
- schools, tertiary institutions or education facilities
- clinics, health or aged care facilities
- long-term or permanent residential sites, including campsites.
