Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North has developed an innovative holistic Adult Community Education program to provide tailored solutions to address barriers to employment or further training for locals in the Yorke Peninsula, preparing them for entry level jobs and further study pathways in the care sectors.
Partnering with TAFE SA, the program will provide a combination of tailored accredited and non accredited training as well as employability and work preparation skills with mental health, drug and alcohol and budgeting and finance workshops. The program will be delivered 4 days per week over 11 weeks with a dedicated student mentor and digital literacy training by SkillUp SA.
Applications will be open until Tuesday the 27th of January. Applications have now been extended until Friday 6th February.
Who can apply?
People who are unemployed, underemployed, looking to return to work or upskill in the care sector
School students are not eligible to apply.
What does the course offer?
This unique program gives you the opportunity to complete the below accredited training courses:
- SSDIS01002 – Preparing to Work in Community Services and Health Skill Set
- CHCCOM005 – Communicate and work in health or community services
- CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people
- HLTWHS002 – Follow safe work practices for direct client care
- HLTWHS006 – Manage personal stressors in the work environment
- HLTINF006 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
- CHCLEG001 – Work legally and ethically
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid & CPR
- HLTWHS005 – Conduct manual tasks safely (Manual handling)
In conjunction with work preparation and personal development workshops, budgeting and finance skills, tailored LLND tutoring supports (see below), resume & interview practice and industry site visits.
LLN Consulting will be providing Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) support to students participating in the Career in Care program by helping learners build the foundation skills to confidently work safely within aged care, disability and community settings.
LLND support focuses on:
- Communication skills – interacting professionally with clients, families and colleagues; using person-centred language.
- Reading skills – understanding care plans, policies, WHS procedures and workplace forms.
- Writing skills – completing incident reports, progress notes and other documentation clearly and accurately.
- Numeracy skills – measuring fluids, reading charts, recording observations, calculating times and schedules.
The program will be delivered 4 days a week over 11 weeks, running from Tuesday the 24th of February 2026 until Friday the 8th of May 2026 at Kadina.
Student Fees
The fee for applicants will be $657.50 + GST.
For successful applicants registered with an Employment Services Provider, this fee may be covered by your provider with prior approval.
For successful applicants not registered with an Employment Services Provider, this fee may be covered waived through funding made available by the Local Jobs Program.
This fee covers all training costs, program uniform and necessary screenings.
